Minutes for the Town of Swepsonville
Town Council Meeting July 21st, 2015
The meeting was called to order by Mayor Raymond Herring.
All Council Members were present for the Town Meeting with the exception
of Hugh Doss.
The Swepsonville Town Council remembered the passing of Julius McGhee of
East Main Street.
The minutes for the meeting June 16th, 2015 were reviewed. Darrell Newton made a motion to accept the
minutes as written. Doug Scott seconded the motion. The minutes for the meeting June 16th,
2015 were unanimously approved.
Residents that live on the Quarry Hill Golf Course came to address the Town
Council about the Golf Course property. Michaelene Moore of 2150
Crescent Drive and Martha Behnke of 1015 Quandry Trail was the spoke
persons for the residents. Michaelene told the Council that she has a
signed petition wanting the golf course property as a Quarry Hills
Preservation. The residents want to keep the golf course property
open and greenways. Martha addressed the Town Council about the golf
course property being a greenway or a park. There are 5 miles of
walking cart paths already in place. The residents would like to see
that some of the land stays as open space. The Quarry Hills Golf
Course property is going back up for auction August 21, 2015. Once
the property goes back up and is sold the purchaser has to bring the
plans before the Swepsonville Town Council for approval. At that time
the public will get to view the plans.
There was no public time comments.
Darrell Newton made a motion to adjourn the meeting. Doug Scott seconded the
motion. The meeting was unanimously adjourned.
